A complaint has been lodged with the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) alleging that three students of Mahanama College, Colombo, were subjected to sexual abuse.
The complaint was filed yesterday (21) by the United Human Rights Organisation together with a group of former students of the school.
According to the complaint, the alleged abuse took place on the night of 4 October and was reportedly committed by a private security guard assigned to the school.
The complainants further accused the principal of Mahanama College of attempting to cover up the incident in order to protect the school’s reputation.
They also claimed that no state institution has intervened so far, despite the seriousness of the allegations. Parents of the victims have reportedly met with officials of the Kollupitiya Police and the NCPA to discuss the incident, according to an official from the United Human Rights Organisation.
