Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC was awarded the Gold Award in the Trading Companies category at the TAGS Awards 2025, organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.

The awards ceremony recognises excellence in corporate reporting, with Singer Sri Lanka emerging as the top performer among trading sector companies this year.

The TAGS Awards — representing Transparency, Accountability, Governance and Sustainability — are regarded as a benchmark for high standards in corporate reporting. The Gold Award recognises the company’s corporate governance framework and its commitment to transparency, accountability and ethical business practices.

Commenting on the achievement, Group Managing Director Mahesh Wijewardene said the recognition reflected the governance culture embedded across the organisation.

“This Gold Award is a reflection of the disciplined governance culture we have embedded across the Singer Group. Transparency and accountability are not compliance requirements for us — they are core principles that guide every strategic decision we make. We remain committed to building a resilient, future-ready organisation that consistently delivers long-term value to our stakeholders,” he said.

The company stated that the accolade also highlighted its focus on sustainability and responsible retailing. Singer said it continues to strengthen community initiatives and embed sustainable operational practices across its island-wide network.

Finance Director Shalinka Seresinhe said the recognition validated the company’s financial and risk management frameworks.

“This recognition validates the strength of our financial discipline, risk management frameworks and the adoption of integrated reporting standards. As a leading trading company, our focus has always been on balancing growth with responsibility — ensuring that innovation in our trading and distribution networks is supported by strong governance and financial stewardship,” he said.

Singer stated that the award reinforces its position in the retail and trading sector, reflecting its focus on governance, sustainability and operational performance.
