South African National Arrested at BIA with Rs. 142 Million Worth of Cocaine

Narcotics Control Unit officers at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake, have apprehended a South African national attempting to smuggle cocaine into Sri Lanka.

The 41-year-old woman, who arrived at the BIA at approximately 1.50 a.m. today (29) on a Qatar Airways flight from Ghana, was found in possession of 4,068 g of cocaine.

Sri Lanka Customs estimates the street value of the seized drugs at Rs. 142 million.
