SJB Horana organiser Charith Abeysinghe said that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe would not have allowed the National People’s Power (NPP) to secure its current 159-seat parliamentary majority had he accepted Basil Rajapaksa’s proposal to hold a General Election before the Presidential Election.
Abeysinghe further claimed that such a scenario could have even created an opportunity for Wickremesinghe to return as President.
He also argued that if Wickremesinghe had conducted the Local Government Elections at the appropriate time, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) could have emerged victorious at that stage.
