A Sathyagraha campaign organised by several opposition political parties in protest against the alleged inhumane treatment of former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director Major General (Retd.) Suresh Sallay commenced today (8) at the Fort Railway Station premises in Colombo.
Representatives from opposition political parties participated in the demonstration.
Sallay was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on 25 February in connection with investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks.
He has since been held under detention orders in CID custody. Recently, he was admitted to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka after developing a sudden medical condition while in detention.
