Suspect Arrested with Firearm, Ammunition, and Heroin in Kosgoda

A 34-year-old suspect has been arrested with a foreign-manufactured firearm, ammunition, and heroin during a raid by the Elpitiya Divisional Crimes Unit in the Wathurawela area of the Kosgoda Police Division.

The raid, conducted on the evening of 5 February 2025, was based on a tip-off received by the police, the Police Media Division stated. Officers seized 5.34 grams of heroin, a foreign-made 9mm pistol, nine rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a magazine. The suspect and the seized items were handed over to Kosgoda Police for further action.

Investigations revealed that the arrested individual is the primary suspect in an attempted murder case involving a shooting in the Kosgoda Police Division on 30 January 2025.

Kosgoda Police are continuing further investigations.
