Digambaran Says UNP Will Win General Election Emphatically

Minister Palani Digambaran stated that the UNP will achieve a historic victory in the Nuwara Eliya District in the forthcoming general election.

Speaking at a meeting in Hatton last evening, Digambaran said that the party will be able to elect six members to the parliament.

Digambaran pointed out that the former government of Mahinda Rajapaksa promised to construct 50,000 houses in the estates. Rajapaksa is now seeking re-election without fulfilling the promise, Digambaran pointed out.

The present government was able to build 400 new houses and hand over seven perches of land to estate worker families within the period of a few months, the Minister recalled.

He added that the UNP-led government will fulfill the promise to build 50,000 houses for estate workers once elected.
