Apsara Fonseka, elder daughter of Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, lashed out at claims of family rule in the Democratic Party, explaining that only her father and mother are contesting the election.

 

"Only my mother is contesting in order to support my father to fight for a better future because they work well together and because they are that much stronger together," Apsara Fonseka said.

 

She further stressed that "there is no "Pawul Palanaya" here. We support our parents decision to contest and that will be it."

 

Field Marshal Fonseka contests the election from Colombo District and his wife Anoma Fonseka contests from Gampaha District.
