The JVP stated that there was no need to fear of the political retun of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa since he will not last long in the political stage.

 

Speaking at a press conference in Colombo this morning, JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said that Rajapaksa was not able to contest from the Hambantota District or anywhere from Southern Province.

 

Even if he wins a parliamentary seat from Kurunegala, he will not be able to keep his seat for long, Tilvin Silva added. He pointed out that there were several investigations on financial fraud involving Rajapaksa. Once he is proven guilty by the judiciary, he will not be able to be even an MP, Silva pointed out.
