The Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party will hold a special meeting tonight.
The meeting follows yesterday's statement by President Maithripala Sirisena who said that he will remain neutral in the election.
Furthermore, Sirisena said that he will not support former president Mahinda Rajapaksa during the election.
Following the statement by the President, Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon called for a press conference and said that the President's speech was disadvantageous to the party.
