Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga will return to the island today, political reports said.
Kumaratunga left the island a week ago on what was described as a pre-arranged visit. However, it was widely speculated that she left the country dejected, following the decision to grant nominations from the UPFA to Mahinda Rajapaksa.
She is expected to make a statement on the nomination issue once she returned to the island.
Kumaratunga is also expected to take part in the election campaign for the United National Front for Good Governance.
