Rajapaksa Accuses Government Of Jeopardizing People's Livelihoods

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that the government has endangered the livelihood of the people in the country within the six months it was in power through its unsound economic policies.
 
Speaking at the UPFA inaugural election rally at Anuradhapura, he said that the government’s economic policy was based on satisfying those who supported to defeat him in the recent presidential election.
 
Rajapaksa added that prices of almost all food items had increased. Government service was threatened and health sector was in jeopardy, he said. He also alleged out that the Pharmaceutical Act had not reduced prices of pharmaceuticals. Instead, the government increased pharmaceutical prices to earn their commissions, Rajapaksa added.
 
Rajapaksa also said that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran had committed daylight robbery in the form of the controversial Treasury bond issue.
