Ceylon Workers Congress General Secretary Arumugam Thondaman stated that his party offered only conditional support to the UPFA for the upcoming general election.
Speaking at a meeting of regional leaders of the party at its headquarters at Kotagala yesterday, Thondaman said that the CWC offered unconditional support to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa during the recent presidential election since it was a presidential election.
However, since the CWC is directly involved in the general election, it offered conditional support for the UPFA, Thondaman said.
He also revealed that he met President Maithripala Sirisena to discuss the problems of the estate workers and the required development work in the estates.
