Batticaloa District will have the longest ballot paper for the upcoming general election. Its length will be approximately 30 inches or two and a half feet.
The total number of registered political parties and independent groups contesting for Batticaloa is 46.
Meanwhile, Colombo will also have a ballot paper of approximately 24 inches (2 feet) in length. There are 36 parties and independent groups in the electoral fray in Colombo.
Ballot papers printed for postal voting are expected to be handed over to the Elections Commissioner by July 22. Postal voting will take place in early August.
