JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is contesting the general election with the intention of protecting members of his family and clique who have been accused of various wrongdoings.
Speaking at a public rally in Kiribathgoda yesterday, Dissanayake said that various investigations have already started on different people associated with the former Regime of Mahinda Rajapaksa. Therefore, he wants to undermine these investigations, Dissanayake also said.
Meanwhile, Dissanayake said that Rajapaksa left his native district, where he claims to be entrenched, and moved to Kurunegala District to contest.
