Former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal today challenged Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe for a debate on the transactions in the Central Bank both under his governorship and after January 8.
Speaking at a press conference at the Public Library Auditorium, Cabraal said that the controversial Central Bank Treasury bond issue on February 27 has affected badly for the country. Foreign investors who were interested in investing on Treasury bonds have now started pulling out, he said.
Cabraal also criticized the government’s stance on China, saying that China was becoming a leading investor in regional countries including Australia. Therefore, negative comments on China will not help Sri Lanka, he argued.
