Former MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara has launched a crowd-funding program to carry out his election campaign.
Advertisements appeared on national newspapers today, requesting the public to fund his campaign.
Speaking to Asian Mirror, Nanayakkara said that he was requesting the public to donate whatever they can offer, without mentioning a particular amount.
He said that he was already receiving donations from the working class people and even from the local business community. However, he stated that these donations are not bonds and businessmen who donate are not looking for any returns.
Nanayakkara added that the election campaign was moving forward without any disturbance.
