Six Chinese beggars were fined Rs. 100 each by Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage under Section 3 (a) of the Vagrant Ordinance for obstructing the public.

 

Fort Police arrested them near the Fort Railway Station and produced them before the Magistrate’s Court.

 

It was revealed that they were residing at a rented house in Kollupitiya. They had arrived in the country on tourist visas. Two of the six individuals arrested were revealed as the dealers of this begging operation.
