Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera said that the Bodu Jana Peramuna was conducting a low profile campaign in most of the districts it contests due to financial constraints.
Speaking to Asian Mirror last evening, Gnanasara Thera said that the present electoral system does not allow for an effective campaign for parties without considerable financial strength.
Campaigning was being conducted with relatively high intensity in several districts, he also said.
Gnanasara Thera pointed out that the BJP released its manifesto on July 23 at the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth) in Kandy. It speaks of the interests of the Sinhalese people, he further said.
Meanwhile, he refused to comment on the recent statement made by Watareka Vijitha Thera regarding the national flag, saying that there was no need to pay notice to statements by people who have been rejected by society.
