Veteran artiste and cartoonist Daya Rajapaksa passed away this morning at the age of 78. He was undergoing treatments at Colombo General Hospital.
Rajapaksa started his career at Lake House and he was working at Wijeya News Papers. He had experience of more than forty years in the art.
Rajapaksa’s stories had been used for several films among which were Gamini Fonseka’s ‘Hulawali’, ‘Thawalama’, ‘Bandura Mal’, ‘Sakvithi Suwaya’ and Malani Fonseka’s ‘Nirupamala’ and ‘Sasara Chethana’.
Several teledramas such as ‘Dulari’ , ‘Hethe Wasama’, ‘Boralu Para’ , ‘Anupama’ were also inspired from his stories.
