UPFA Gampaha District candidate Tilak Waragoda responded to allegations against him by Minister John Amaratunga, challenging him to prove that he has been convicted by a court.

 

Amaratunga recently said that the Gampaha UPFA list has an Island Re-convicted Criminal (IRC) and therefore the full list will be disqualified. He mentioned the name of Waragoda as the alleged IRC. Amaratunga also said that he was ready to seek judicial intervention on the matter.

 

However, Waragoda questioned this claim at a press conference and said that he was ready to face any challenge in courts.

 

He also said that he has information pertaining to some of the UNP candidates who have such questionable records.
