Citizens’ movements, civil organisations and trade unions signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United National Front on Tuesday, July 28.
National Movement for Social Justice Chairman Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera signed the agreement on behalf of the civil organisations while Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe signed for the United National Front.
The agreement includes several points including the introduction of a new constitution, creating employment opportunities whilst protecting the free education and health services, giving priority to create unity among communities and paving the way for national and religious reconciliation.
Furthermore, the agreement includes 10 other points such as the passage of bill to establish the National Audit Act, the Right to Information Act and the Anti-Corruption Act.
