John Seneviratne Describes 'Wickremesinghe's Biggest Lie'

Ratnapura District former UPFA MP John Seneviratne said that the biggest lie of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is his pledge to create a million jobs under a new UNP government.

Speaking at a meeting in Elapatha, Ratnapura, he said that once he came to power Wickremesinghe issued a special gazette preventing any recruitment to the public service. He attempted to reduce the importance of the public sector, Seneviratne added.

He also pointed out that the UNP attempted to divide the SLFP to create a three-way contest in the general election. However, since these plans did not succeed, the UNP is aware of its impending defeat, Seneviratne said. Wickremesinghe is givinf various promises to prevent that defeat, he elaborated.

However, Seneviratne alsp argued that Wickremesinghe failed to carry out most of the promises given during the presidential election campaign. He is merely trying to deceive people by a new set of promises, he claimed.
