United People's Freedom Alliance General Secretary Susil Premajayantha said that the United National Front had to sign a Memorendum of Understanding with civil organizations due to lack of trust.
Speaking at a press conference in Colombo today, Premajayantha pointed out that a similar agreement was signed with civil organizations before the recent presidential election. However, most of the promises made in this agreement were not fulfilled, he added.
Premajayantha explained by saying that the executive presidency was not abolished and the Right to Information Bill was never introduced to parliament. The UNF had to sign a MoU due to the lack of trust on their policies due to shortcomings like these, he added.
The UNF signed a MoU with 110 civil organizations and trade unions yesterday.
