Former non-cabinet minister and UPFA candidate Dilan Perera on Thursday (30) stressed that disputes between Somaratne Dissanayake and PM Ranil Wickremasinghe led Dissanayake to resign from his post of the Chairman of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.
Addressing a media briefing Perera further said that Prime Minister is trying to cover up the fact that the UPFA will win more than 120 seats in the election.
"Ranil Wickremasinghe has ordered state media not to reveal these research statistics. That is why Dissanayake stepped down from his post," Perera added.
Somaratne Dissanayake on Thursday (30) announced that he had decided to resign from his post. Speaking at a media briefing he refuted Perera's statement on his resignation and told that he came up with the decision due to several personal reasons.
Dissanayake, once an ardent supporter of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, offered his support to common candidate Maithripala Sirisena during the recent Presidential Election. His appointment to the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation created some controversy in January.
