Balapitiya organizer of United National Party (UNP) Kamal Jayantha de Soysa offered his support to United People Freedom Alliance (UPFA) a short while ago.

He announced his decision during an UPFA election meeting held at Elpitiya bus stand. Former president and UPFA candidate Mahinda Rajapaksa also attended the meeting.

Soysa announced his decision to resign from his responsibilities in the party on July 29, in protest over the party's decision to welcome former Balapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Dayaratne de Silva.

Speaking to media he said that Dayaratne de Silva was responsible for many misdeeds in the area. De Silva used the name of former MP Sajin de Vass Gunawardena for his advantage, de Soysa said.
