UPFA Received a significant blow from Batticaloa, as it fell to an insignificant fourth place in the postal votes for the district.
The UPFA received only 708 votes (7.49%), a significant drop from the 2,254 votes it received in 2010 General Election. The UPFA came second in 2010.
In the 2015 General Election, the ITAK won the postal votes in Batticaloa with 6,056 votes (64.03%). SLMC came second with 1,390 votes. The UNP received 1,101 votes.
In 2010, ITAK led the field with 2576 votes (42.44%).
