The UNP won the Matara Electorate of the Matara District with 30, 832 votes (47.09%).

 

The UPFA managed to poll only 28, 364 votes while the JVP obtained 5,910 votes (9.03%).

 

In 2010, the UPFA received 50.66 percent of the votes in Matara while the UNP won 41.34 percent of the vote.
