The UPFA won the Galle District with 312,518 while the UNP managed to poll only 265,180 votes.

Accordingly, the UPFA was able to win 6 seats and the UNP managed to win only 4 seats.

However, the JVP received only 37,778 votes and failed to win any seats.

In the 2010 General Election, the UPFA won seven seats and the UNP was able to win only 2 seats from the district. The DNA, which included the JVP, had won one seat.
