UPFA won the Kurunegala District with a slight lead, winning 8 seats from the district.
The UPFA, led by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, received 474,124 votes (49.26%) while the UNP received 441,275 votes (45.85%).
The JVP could not win any seats. It received only 41,077 votes.
In 2010 General Election, the UPFA had won 10 seats from the district.
