AG Files Four Reports On KP

The Attorney General filed four reports with the Court of Appeal, pertaining to activities of Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP, a former prominent member of the LTTE.

This was revealed today when the application for a writ of mandamus filed by JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath was taken to consideration by the Appeals Court. The AG informed the court that the reports were filed through a motion recently.

Appeals Court President Vijith Malalgoda allowed until November 12 to study the reports and fixed the hearing for that day. He also directed that the petitioner be given copies of the reports.

Through his petition, Herath requests an order for the arrest of KP and to have him produced before courts.

The Court of Appeal earlier directed the AG to conduct an examination on the 193 allegations in the petition which include money laundering and procurement of arms. On August 31, the AG told the Appeals Court that no crimes pertaining to Pathmanathan have been transpired for the time being and requested more time to complete the inquiry. The Appeals Court postponed the case for today.
