President To Reconsider Budget Proposals Amidst Rising Critisism: Reports

President Maithripala Sirisena is to propose in the next cabinet meeting to reconsider budget proposals which directly affect public.

President has taken this decision after meeting UPFA ministers last Saturday (12th).

UPFA ministers have brought to attention of Sirisena about the criticisms regarding budget proposals whilst the meeting. Ministers have requested that fertilizer subsidy should be granted to vegetable farming as well. They have also reconsidered about reducing the increased taxes on electric vehicles.

Sirisena has appointed a special committee to study the proposed special budget on the public’s side, including recommendations and suggestions of the committee. He has asked the report to be submitted following his return from Italy.
