Harsha De Silva Wants To Keep Politics Out Of Bra

December 28, 2015
In the wake of the controversy surrounding President Maithripala Sirisena's remarks on Enrique Iglasius's show 'Love and Sex', Deputy Finance Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva requested the public to keep politics out of the "bra better."

Posting a photograph with the President taken at a Christmas function in Colombo on his official Facebook page, the Deputy Minister said, "Here is another side of the President. The other day at Christmas carols at the Arcade. On the bra matter let's keep politics out of it. We got bigger things to worry about."

Tourism Minister John Amaratunga and Business tycoon Harry Jayawardena were also seen in the picture posted by the Deputy Minister, a day after the President's much-talked-about remarks.

Over the past two days, social media was flooded with posts criticising the Presidnet's remarks on Latin American singer Enrique's show in Colombo. However, this was the first time a senior member of the government openly expressed views about the controversy involving the President's statement.

Many were of the view that President Sirisena's remarks resembled a religious or cultural Police, an authority playing dominant role in the Middle Eastern region.
