It was revealed in the Fort Magistrate Court that the fingerprint marks obtained from an incident of property damage reported at the Sathosa main building in 2012, had tallied with fingerprint marks of a coordinating secretary to Minister Johnston Fernando.
In this incident, it was reported that a glass door connected to the finance and accounting unit of the Sathosa building had been severely damaged due to an act committed by an unknown person.

Therefore, Colombo Fort Magistrate today (02) issued noticed on Don Peter Nanayakkara who is serving as a coordinating secretary to the Co-operatives and Internal Trade minister Johnston Fernando to be present in court on June 30.
The coordinating secretary's fingerprint marks were in the database of Police Fingerprints Division as he was convicted for a crime 18 years ago.
The Slave Island, which began investigations into three suspicious fingerprint marks obtained from the crime scene at the Sathosa building, went on to tally those fingerprints with the ones in the Police database. It was at this point that they realized that one set of fingerprints tally with those of the Coordinating Secretary of the Minister who overlooks Sathosa.
It was further transpired in the court that this incident had taken place about one year before the massive fire that broke out at the Sathosa building, which caused heavy damages to public property and valuable documents relating to the Ministry. Issuing a report regarding the incident, the Government Analyst had also maintained that the fire was not natural but an act of crime.
