Prime Minister Orders For Report On Actions Of Buddhist Monks Near Homagama Magistrate's Court

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that he called for a report from police over the disturbances created by some Buddhist monks near the Homagama Magistrate's Court.

Addressing the Parliament today, Wickremesinghe said that it has to be investigated if laymen created disturbances disguised as monks.

He added that the report will be handed over the the Chief Prelate of the Malwatte Chapter and the Chief Prelate of the Kotte Rajamaha viharaya for their perusal.

He added that all persons were equal before the law.

The protests broke out after the Homagama Magistrate ordered Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera to be remanded on three charges including threatening a state official and contempt of court.
