'CCTV Did Not Function When BBS And Vijitha Thera Entered Rishad's Ministry'

In an interesting turn of events, The Ministry of Industry and Commerce today informed Court that there was an error in the CCTV camera system installed at the Ministry premises at the time (April 23) the alleged arrival of Jathika Bala Sena (JBS) General Secretary Watareka Vijitha Thera took place and when a group of Buddhist monks of BBS organization trespassed into theministry building in Colombo 03 in search of a Vijitha Thera.

Counsel who appeared for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce informed Court that the Safrex international Pvt which had installed CCTV camera system at the Ministry premises had also confirmed that the Digital Video Recorder of the CCTV camera had not been operating during the day of this particular incident happened.  

However, Colombo Fort Magistrate directed the Colpetty police to conduct investigation into the matter based on the evidence of eye witnesses and the video recorded by the electronic media channels. Thereby Magistrate issued an order to news directors of Sirasa TV, Hiru TV and Swarnavahini to hand over unedited video footage of the incident to the Kollupitiya police.
