A glittery red-suited Lady Gaga stunned with her version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" during the opening minutes of Super Bowl 50 on Sunday in Santa Clara, California's Levi's Stadium, where the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers were set to face off. To further show her patriotism during one of the most-watched TV events in the United States, the singer-songwriter — who has already scored Oscar and Grammy nominations for 2016 — wore blue-painted fingernails and glittery red eyeshadow.
Although considered by some to be a controversial choice to sing the national anthem, Gaga kept things fairly traditional: She started slowly and built until she hit the high notes of the national anthem and Levi’s Stadium roared with cheers.
The Artpop singer turns 30 in March, but before celebrating that personal milestone, she will perform a medley of David Bowie songs in tribute to the late singer-songwriter during the Grammys broadcast on February 15, when the ceremony will air live on CBS.
