'Joint Opposition' Stage Protest In Parliment Following Rejection Of Request To Be Independent

February 09, 2016

Joint Opposition MPs are currently staging a protest inside the parliament after their request to be independent in parliament was rejected.

They requested to function as a separate group from the speaker recently.

The Joint Opposition composes of over 50 UPFA MPs who back former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The group includes a sizable number of SLFP MPs in Parliament and MPs of several other constituent parties of the UPFA.
