Yoshitha Rajapaksa Files Fundamental Rights Petition

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's second son Yoshitha Rajapaksa filed a Fundamental Rights petition with the Supreme Court, seeking an interim order to direct the Kaduwela Magistrate to enlarge him on bail.

Rajapaksa has named 12 respondents including seven officials of the FCID.

He also seeks the Supreme Court to pronounce that his fundamental rights assured under Article 13 (1), 13 (2) and 13 (4) of the Constitution have been infringed by his arrest.

Rajapaksa and four others were arrested on January 30 by the FCID over the alleged money laundering at the Carlton Sports Network.
