Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will chair a meeting on the island-wide power blackout which affected the entire island for several hours yesterday.

Prior to the meeting with the PM, the Minister of Power and Enewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya is scheduled to chair a separate meeting. This meeting is to start in a short while.

An explosion in the Biyagama substation was thought to be the reason for the blackout. However, the Ministry said that a probe will be carried out on the incident.
