The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption filed a case in Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court, against former Sports Minister, UPFA MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage, and another official, over the alleged fraud of Rs 53.1 million in importing sports equipment.

This incident has allegedly taken place in 2014. Apparently, the equipment were to be imported to distribute to sports societies. However, they have not been distributed as expected.
