The United National Party and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party can work together to preserve the unity of the country since the two parties agree that the country should not be split, President Maithripala Sirisena said today.
He made this observation speaking at the 70th anniversary of the UNP. Sirisena was a special guest at the event.
Sirisena said that it was an honor to speak at the anniversary rally of the UNP.
Sirisena also said former President Mahinda Rajapaksa held the Presidential Election two years before schedule due to the threat of international sanctions and the economic difficulties.
