“While claiming that the police force in the Monaragala district is inefficient, the Elections Commissioner has requested the civilians to complain to the court regarding the shortcomings of the law enforcement”, the parliamentarian said in an interview with a vernacular newspaper.
Dissanayake added that the law enforcement in the whole district has been politicized and Police officers have become ‘henchmen’ of certain political parties.
The JVP Leader also lashed out at the Police Chief for being inactive in the face of what he termed as election violence.
"So far, the Elections Commissioner and the Chief of Police have failed to take action towards responsible parties”, the JVP Leader said.
The parliamentarian further remarked that the police media spokesman is behaving like a parrot by providing jokes to the public.
Anura Kumara Dissanayake also expressed his displeasure towards the incident where a group of JVP supporters were shot at by an armed group recently. The parliamentarian added that the authorities have taken no measures to track down the suspects.
