Sanath Piyaprema, a UPFA member of the Moneragala Pradehsiya Sabha acted in an unruly manner, brandishing a sword, in front of the Moneragala Base Hospital.
BBC Sandeshaya released footage today showing the PS member carrying a sword-like object and walking towards the hospital. The footage also showed the PS member threatening someone inside the hospital premises.

When asked about this incident, Cabinet spokesman and information minister Keheliya Rambukweela said it was no secret that there were election law violations in the Uva province, but a single party could not be held responsible for all the violations.
“It is the duty of the law enforcement bodies to intervene in these maters and take necessary action against culprits,” the minister said.
Commenting of the incident Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFe) said that the Moneragala area has reported the most number of election law violations and instances of pre-election violence.
The elections monitors said that the law enforcement in the Moneragala area is inefficient and that they have turned a blind eye to increasing pre-election violence.
It is learnt that the Elections Commissioner has decided a convene a special meeting with representatives of all major political parties in Sri Lanka with regard to election law violations in the district of Moneragala. The Elections Commissioner had told his officials that if the Police did not take action to control the situation he would take action to postpone the election in the district.
