Ranjan Ramanayake, Renowned Former MP and Actor, Earns Degree from Open University of Sri Lanka

In a remarkable achievement, the well-known former Member of Parliament and acclaimed actor, Ranjan Ramanayake, has successfully completed his degree in Youth and Community Development from the prestigious Open University of Sri Lanka. 

This milestone adds to Ramanayake's diverse accomplishments, showcasing his commitment to education alongside his prominent roles in politics and the entertainment industry.

Ramanayake's dedication to education is evident as he pursued his degree while juggling his responsibilities as an active parliamentarian. Notably, in 2019, he managed to sit for the Advanced Level examination as a private candidate, displaying his determination to balance his political engagements with his academic pursuits.

The MP's journey has seen both triumphs and challenges, as he has captured the public's attention not only for his political endeavors but also for his successful acting career. Despite his achievements, he faced legal troubles, which resulted in his imprisonment in 2021. Ramanayake was sentenced to a two-year term for contempt of court, marking a significant setback in his trajectory.
