NPP Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake, along with MP Vijitha Herath, a National Executive Member of the National People's Power (NPP), met with Palestinian Ambassador Dr. Zuhair M.H. Said at the Palestinian Embassy.
During the meeting, Dissanayake conveyed the deep concern and regret of the NPP regarding the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine, characterized by the loss of innocent lives, including women and children. The situation in Palestine has left many people suffering without access to essential resources, such as water, electricity, food, and health facilities, owing to the prevailing conflict.
Dissanayake emphasized the urgent need for the United Nations Organization to play a fair and immediate mediating role in addressing the military conflict. He underscored that the UN's position, which recognizes both Israel and Palestine as two distinct countries, should be swiftly implemented to foster a peaceful resolution.
Highlighting the NPP's longstanding commitment to advocating for a free Palestine, Dissanayake articulated the party's firm stance on ensuring that the people of Palestine have the opportunity to lead lives marked by freedom and autonomy.
The meeting at the Palestinian Embassy underscored the NPP's unwavering solidarity with the people of Palestine and their pursuit of a just and peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis. The discussions held in this diplomatic encounter reflect the NPP's continued commitment to promoting a free Palestine and supporting international efforts to address the complex challenges faced by the Palestinian population.
