The Meteorology Department says that fairly heavy showers will occur across parts of the island today, with conditions favorable for afternoon thundershowers. Showers or thundershowers are expected to affect most areas after 2:00 p.m., with light showers likely in the Northern, Eastern, and Hambantota districts earlier in the day.

Fairly heavy rainfall, up to 75 mm, is predicted in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces. Misty conditions are also expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, along with the Galle and Matara districts during the morning hours.
