Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has called for the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) to be invited to the Sri Lankan Parliament during his upcoming visit to the country. Premadasa conveyed this request to the Speaker of Parliament, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
ICC Chairman Greg Barclay is reportedly scheduled to visit Sri Lanka to discuss the ongoing cricket crisis in the country. Sri Lanka is currently facing an ICC ban.
Premadasa emphasized that such an invitation would provide an invaluable opportunity for all 225 Members of Parliament to engage with the ICC chief and collectively address the cricket crisis faced by Sri Lanka. The Opposition Leader expressed the importance of informing the ICC Chairman about the resolutions passed in Parliament, ensuring that he receives accurate information and understanding the depth of the challenges afflicting Sri Lanka's cricket landscape.
"We need to inform him of the resolutions adopted in Parliament. Otherwise, the Sri Lanka Cricket will give him wrong information" warned Premadasa, the leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).
