Apprentice Lawyer Assaulted by Senior Lawyers in Alleged Retaliation: Nittambuwa Police Investigate

An apprentice lawyer working at the Attanagalla Magistrate's Court was allegedly assaulted by five individuals, including female lawyers. The Nittambuwa Police have confirmed receiving a complaint about the incident, which occurred earlier in the day.

The victim, a young lawyer residing in the Nittambuwa area, was reportedly escorted from the court premises to the Kalagedihena area before being subjected to the assault. Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that the attack may be linked to a personal dispute between the junior lawyer and a senior lawyer under whom he had previously worked.

Sources reveal that the plaintiff lawyer had been an apprentice under the senior lawyer for a period before they decided to work independently. Tensions escalated a few days ago when an argument erupted between them. Matters took a more ominous turn when, on the same day as the assault, two female lawyers and the husband of one of them allegedly visited the house of the junior lawyer, threatening his father.

Later that evening, as the young lawyer was working in the Attanagalla Magistrate's Court, an advocate from another court reportedly arrived and took him away in his car. The details surrounding the subsequent assault are currently under investigation by the Nittambuwa Police.
