Susil Kindelpitiya In Talks With UNP For A Possible Crossover

September 21, 2014

Democratic Party Western Provincial Councilor Susil Kindelpitiya is presently holding discussions to join the United National Party, highly placed political sources told Asian Mirror.

Kindelpitiya has already held a series of discussions in this regard with Hambanthota District UNP Parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa. Kindelpitiya may join the main opposition party following Premadasa's appointment as the Deputy Leader of the party.

Kindelpitiya had reportedly fallen out with Democratic Party Leader Sarath Fonseka during the Uva election campaign. The problem had started when Kindelpitiya, a key member of the party, was not welcomed for a meeting between party leader Sarath Fonseka and Sanjeewa Ranatunga during the Uva election campaign,

DP Provincial Councilor had requested the UNP to appoint him as the Organizer of the Kolonnawa electorate. However it is learnt that S.M. Marikkar who is presently the UNP organizer of Kolonnawa electorate is standing in his way.

Both Kindelpitiya and Marikkar held senior positions in the management of MTV/MBC Media Network, owned by Capital Maharaja Organization.
